Chance favors the prepared mind

A couple months ago during Physics, my professor said something that I still think about pretty often. "Chance favors the prepared mind." It's a quote from Louis Pasteur that means that the more knowledgeable you are—the more you're well-equipped in the mind, the better you can take advantage of the opportunities that come by.

Originally, I was going to keep these thoughts to myself until something silly happened that made me realize that it is by nature for human beings to forget. The simple and most obvious solution to that is to write these thoughts online. Nothing practically escapes the Internet in this day and age. I've always been a privacy freak, because hell would have to freeze over first before anyone who knows me in real life is granted the privilege to read the things I write online. *closes the AO3 tab that was conspicuously giving me a death stare*

Ahem. Anyway, as I was saying, since the human brain has not yet evolved to remember everything, it is but a flawed masterpiece that needs playing around with. I accidentally reset my phone—like, completely reset it, and because I was so very clever I did not choose to backup my files and a buncha other sentimental albums that I've compiled thus far. Like the cute train photo my boyfriend had sent me on his way to Egypt. Gone. Or the plane photos he took that overlooked a beautiful sunset from Munich. Then oh, my stupid notes! Darn it. I lost all the great quotes I've collected while watching Ben 10: Alien Force. :-[ Yesterday was a very sad day, beebs. So I took it upon myself to finally use the Dreamwidth account I'd been neglecting since day 1. I figured I'm sick of losing things all the time, whether to the feeble human brain or my frail logic... *coughs*

So hi! Call me Star, though it's fine if you want to get creative sometimes. I'm also a big Flash fan-girl, so maybe you can make up a name out of that information? :-]
